FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

- Do you pick up from wine lodges outside the city centre?

Yes we pick up from wine lodges in Chacras de Coria and Vistalba.  On private tours we pick up anywhere, including Valle de Uco.

- Do you accomodate vegetarians?

Yes we can accommodate all dietary requirements including vegan diets and those with gluten intolerance.

- Which wine tour do you recommend - Lujan de Cuyo or Valle de Uco?

They are both excellent tours, but very different.  If you have not visited any wineries yet in Mendoza we recommend the Lujan de Cuyo tour, as you see more wineries (old and new), try more wines and experience more variety; and all with those lovely mountain views.  Valle de Uco is more rural and isolated. All the wineries are new and the most you can visit in one day are three wineries.  The mountains are closer, and therefore the scenery on a clear day is stunning.  On our Lujan de Cuyo tour you actually try a lot of wines from Uco Valley as all the better wineries have vineyards there.

- Do you take children on your tours?

Yes, on our private tours.

- Can I purchase wine in the wineries and can I ship it home?

Yes, all the wineries offer wines for sale and many take credit card.  Regarding shipping, the wine must be sent by courier which is expensive - approximately $200 US per box of six.  Many people choose to carry their wine home in special wne boxes that you check in as luggage. These boxes come in sizes of 4, 6 and 12.  They are available to buy at Trout & Wines office.

- What type of tastings do you have at each winery?

As a rule we always try premium tastings at each winery with at least one icon wine.

- What are the lunches like?

Extravagant, multi-course gourmet meals with wine pairings. We only go to the best winery restaurants and choose the most elaborate and delicious options. The Mendoza wine scene is famous for such lunches and it is something you must try when you are here.

- What forms of payment do you take?

We take payment in cash US dollars or Argentine pesos. We also accept all main credit cards and payment by Paypal.  If you do choose to pay in cash, please be aware that cash machines in Argentina have very low daily limits and high charges.  Also dollars are difficult to find.  It is always wise to bring dollars cash as back up.  You will get a better exchange rate with larger bills in good condition.

- Are tips included?

No.  We as a company leave a small tip for the lunch waiter. There is no obligation to add to it but if you feel the waiter deserves it a good tip, it would be most appreciated.

- Can you pick up from the bus station?

We do not recommend you do a tour on the same day as your arrival, especially if it is by night bus.  Buses are always late and the main bus terminal is large and somewhat chaotic. Coming from Chile is espcially problematic as you are crossing one of the highest mountain passes in the World and there are always long delays.
