La Guatana is one of the leading estancias (ranches) in the country for breeding the traditional Argentine Criollos horses, hardy horses bred for working the land. This is a renowned estancia and they have won numerous awards for his horse training and is currently ranked 4th out of over 600 estancias in
Argentina.
La Guatana provides rustic and delightful cabalgatas (horseback rides) in Maipú, just outside of
Mendoza city center. It's a working ranch you will get a chance to step back in time and immerse yourself in a truly Argentine experience.
You will be collected at 9am from your hotel by your guide and driven to
Cabaña
La Guatana in Maipú approx 30 mins away. There you will be greeted by the estancia owner César who will bring you on a quick tour of the estancia showing you his famous Criollo horses. He will then help you saddle-up and give you instructions on horse riding gaucho style. You will ride through the lush countryside of Maipú, passing through a vineyard on the way and cross over the river
Mendoza. You will be horse riding for approximately three hours or shorter if you would prefer. Lunch will be back at the ranch and will be a traditional Argentine asado (bbq) served with home made empanadas and farm grown vegetables and salad and of course accompanied by some great wine.
In the afternoon you will be taken back to your hotel where you can have a siesta after an exhilarating day in the country and some great food and wine.
