Flyfishing Experience

There is nothing quite like the thrill of coaxing wild brook trout from a high Andean river, watched by condor and surrounded by snowey peaks. Flyfishing in Mendoza is the perfect opportunity to escape the crowds and enjoy pristine nature in all its glory.

Fishing is possible throughout the year but the best months are from September to April. The rivers are two hours drive from the city and are mostly fast flowing mountain creeks in the high sierras.

Flyfishing Experience at an Andean Ranch

Valle de Uco is a narrow fertile plain 80km soutwest of Mendoza city. Nestled between the low Pre-Cordillera and the towering blunted peaks of the Cordon del Plata, it is a high altitude zone producing excellent grapes, pears and peaches. It also has a collection of valley creeks that are full of wild trout. The valley is particularly stunning at daybreak when the snow-capped peaks reflect the bright orange and pink of the rising sun.

You will be collected at 8.30am in Mendoza after which we will drive south for two hours until we reach Valle de Uco, in the foothills of the Andes at an elevation of 2000m above sea level.

The day will be spent fly fishing at an Andean ranch with a private river.. We follow the stream by foot for 30 minutes (also possible by horseback if requested in advance), accompanied by your guide who knows the best fly fishing spots.
