Designed by the same architects as O.Fournier and equally as impressive, Salentein is a Dutch owned winery with ambitious vision. It is very well orgsnised for tourism with a special visitor centre that includes an excellent art museum. Modern sculptures vie with a dramatic setting and an imposing interior that reminds many of a James Bond movie set. There is also a fine restaurant where you can sample the range of wines over such delicacies as beef with Malbec sauce whilst enjoying a great view of the snowy peaks.

Under the charge of Mendoza winemaker Laureano Gomez who manages the harvest in 2 wineries. The fruit from Salentein yields 1-1.5 kilos per plant and then goes though a double selection, hydraulic pressing, pre- and post- fermentation maceration. The wine is then aged in 1st 2nd or 3rd use barrels, which are passed to the sister winery for 4th and 5th uses. Of the 5,000 barrels 95% are French.
